The Kampala-Malaba Meter Gauge Railway is part of the multi-modal Northern Corridor route, which includes road transport from Mombasa in Kenya to Uganda and neighbouring countries, including Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Eastern DR Congo. The corridor also has maritime links with Lake Victoria’s inland waterways.
On Wednesday, the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited – UETCL, without giving reasons announced on its social media pages that they are experiencing a national blackout. “We shall keep you updated as we work on restoration of power. All inconveniences caused are regretted,” read the UETCL message to its stakeholders.

According to the poll results announced by Edrine Nsobanyi, the Makerere University Electoral Commission Chairperson on Wednesday evening, Alionzi who is affiliated with the National Unity Platform- NUP garnered 5839 votes to beat off his National Resistance Movement-NRM rival, Hussein Ibra who garnered 2079 votes.
In his ruling delivered Wednesday morning, Civil Division High Court Judge Musa Ssekaana, says the suit will proceed before him to its logical conclusion, arguing that the court’s power to exercise discretion to stay court proceedings before it can be exercised judicially and in the public interest. “…the same should not be used to cause delay of hearings or inconvenience to the other party or result into public mischief,” he said.

The money will be used to construct three roads which include Bwitankanja-Nsonosa 5.6 kilometers, Burambira-Mikamba-Bwitankanja 6.7 Kilometers and Mutwe-Kyamwera 7.4 Kilometers, construction of a Market Shed and Taxi Park and construction of a playground.
The 40-kilometer road which connects from Kakabara sub-county in Kyegegwa district to Nabingola in Mubende is being constructed under the Development Response to Displacement Impact Project –DRDIP, a program under the Office of the Prime Minister intended to support the refugee-hosting communities.
"What is on the ground now is that the so called engineers from the ministry of water and environment are fencing the dam with soil and we are wandering what type of fencing that is," John Omoding, a local resident complained.
