There were accusations and counter accusations at Isimba Hydro Power site in Kayunga district as government through Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited UEGCL took over interim supervisory role of the project from Infratech PVT Ltd.
Traminco Uganda Limited is undertaking construction of Edward Avenue, Buddu Street, Ssese Street and Jesserby Street a project worth 17 billion Shillings. The firm was supposed to complete the projects in July this year. However, only 19 percent of the work is done.
At the Court of Appeal and High Court Civil Division at Twed Towers in Nakasero, business had resumed normally. At the Commercial Court, business was underway and the situation was similar at the High Court. At LDC court business had resumed as well as Buganda Road Court.
The session due to hear 63 cases will commence on September 11th and end on October 6th at the Northern Uganda Court Circuit premises in Gulu Town. Some of the cases have been pending since 2004. Didas Muhumuza, the Assistant Registrar of the Court of Appeal, says a panel of three Judges will preside over the session. They are Justices Kenneth Kakuru, Fredrick Martin Stephen Egonda Ntende and Lady Justice Hellen A. Obura.
This follows the expiry of the 40 months supervisory contract that government signed with Infratech PVT Ltd, to undertake the role of owners government engineer on the project
