Jude Wandera, the Spokesperson of UPDF in the Elgon and Bukedi sub-regions identified the deserter as 45-year-old Francis Musau Kapchekweko. According to Wandera, Kapchekweko deserted the army several years ago.
When the government announced the reopening of schools, the pre-reopening activities were to include an update of the SOPs by the ministry. Although inspection has kicked off, the said tools have not been developed, leaving school proprietors, teachers, and parents guessing.

The councillors are accusing both the technical and the political wing of influencing the recruitment process. According to the councillors, they have received several complaints from some of the applicants and members of the public about allegations of bribery and corruption in the recruitment process.
Officials from the OPM allocated an acre of land to the families instead of the two which they had earlier been promised. However, the land was taken away from the victims in exchange for 100,000 Shillings each month, despite growing food on the land. Wilson Wanansolo, the chairperson of the resettlement camp says that the land was allocated to Bunambutye Health center which is currently under construction.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson declined to divulge the names of the other suspects noting that the rest of the family members are in custody at Rubare police station for their own safety.
According to Longole, the suspect had been picked up from Kangole town council for attempted rape. "While at Kangole Police station one of our officers said he knew the suspect and that he wouldn’t but shortly after, the suspect jumped and grabbed a gun from the officer and took off," he explained.
The team of seven athletes comprises six active para-athletics athletes who include Fred Masisa, Wilfred Ocen, Al Bashir Bwaga, Alex Wilson Legu and Peace Oroma however there will also be one support player who runs with Fred Masisa to guide him. Masisa falls under classification TF/11-13 which is for athletes with visual impairment.
