Romanson Elvis Okello, a Biostatistician in the Gulu District Health Department disclosed in a recent interview with Uganda Radio Network that 50% of the deaths were not reviewed due to lack of data.
The relief food was donated in April last year to support selected categories of people who were hit hard by the impact of the covid-19 lockdown instituted by the government.
Docus Chepusua, one of the women says that their husbands want them to produce many children despite their inability to provide for them. "Our husbands want us to produce until you die while producing yet they can't help in taking care of children, they leave us the women battling out with the children’s welfare, “she said.
The hospital currently has 45 COVID-19 patients. 15 of these are critically ill and thereby in need of oxygen full time.
Since there are only 25 medics handling the COVID-19 suspects and patients, Mubiru says the facility cannot admit any more cases.
“On behalf of NGO fraternity and friends of Okello Dan, we hereby announce his untimely death, which occurred from Kampala Case Hospital. According to his brother, the cause of death is believed to be COVID-19. We pray and stand with the family at this very trying and difficult moment. Let us wait for further communication from the family if at all we can join in during the sendoff based on SOP,” reads the statement.
