The drugs were impounded during a two- weeks operation conducted in the three regions of Lango, Acholi and Karamoja covering 17 districts of Abim, Agago, Alebtong, Amolatar, Amuru, Apac, Dokolo, Gulu, Kitgum, Kole, Kwania and Lamwo.
Musafiri Suwed, the Dokolo District Information Officer, says that Bwonyo developed breathing complications in the wee hours of Sunday morning and was rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital from where he died hours later.
“On behalf of NGO fraternity and friends of Okello Dan, we hereby announce his untimely death, which occurred from Kampala Case Hospital. According to his brother, the cause of death is believed to be COVID-19. We pray and stand with the family at this very trying and difficult moment. Let us wait for further communication from the family if at all we can join in during the sendoff based on SOP,” reads the statement.
Alfred Okello, a resident of Anyacoto Village blames the Sub County leadership for failure to allocate funds to build a new latrine at the health facility. Okello says currently patients visiting the facility answer nature’s call in a nearby bush, which possess a huge health risk.
