Patricia Bageine Ejalu, the Deputy Executive Director in charge of Standards at UNBS says food quality remains a key issue that needs to be addressed in the education sector if learners are to be safe since most food suppliers are not certified.
Hellen Lamunu, the Head-teacher of Sacred Heart Girls School and Northern Uganda Regional Chairperson of the Association of Secondary Head Teachers’ Association expressed concern about the need for learner rehabilitation.

Prof. George Openjuru Ladaah, the Vice Chancellor of Gulu University told residents of Nadunget Sub-county who donated the land in a meeting last week that the project aims at socio-economic transformation of the Karamoja Sub-region.
Francis Okot, the Gulu University Guild President, noted that the campaign specifically targets sexually active young individuals who are at a higher risk of contracting and spreading HIV. The goal is to create awareness, encourage safe practices, and empower students to actively participate in addressing HIV/AIDS-related issues.
Laker Sharon Peace, the newly elected Speaker of the Institute, noted that many students have been robbed by thugs from their different rental places within the city. Female students have been the most affected, and keeping them in safe hostel facilities is the best solution.
This follows a directive issued by the University Vice Chancellor Prof. George Openjuru Ladaah instructing all teaching and technical staff not to allow any student to sit for examinations without making full tuition payment.
The plaintiffs filed applications for judicial review in September 2021 seeking the court to declare null and void Openjuru’s promotion as a Professor and his appointment as Vice Chancellor alleging forgery of academic documents.
They say that the family members resolved in a recent meeting that the proposed learning institution will be named Brigadier Okoya Vocational Training School. They reasoned that the institution will help keep his memory, legacies and service to the country alive and also help to transform the lives of the people through skills training at subsidized costs.
