A source at the school told URN on condition of anonymity that students locked the main gate and surrounded the officer who was trying to take the suspect to the police station. The students roughed up the police officer giving chance to their colleague to flee.
Former students of St. Marys College Aboke in Kole district have launched a fundraising drive to re-roof the school buildings in memory of their colleagues who were abducted by the Lords Resistance Army rebels-LRA. The old students had gathered at Aboke for memorial prayers to mark the 20th anniversary since the LRA abduction of 139 girls at the school in October 1996.
During the Kole district teachers\' conference held on the February 10, 2012, World Vision donated 670 Polo T-shirts to be given to participants including teachers and children. The T-Shirts were later, however, sold at 8,000 shillings each.
