Edward Tusiime, one of the farmers benefiting from Mubuku Irrigation scheme, says during the dry spell the water is very low. He says the increase of human activities on the upper stream especially sand mining, indicates that the worst is yet to come.
But today the main purpose cannot be achieved as the waters in the river continue to go down.
Last week, Busia municipal council resolved to annex the entire Dabani Sub County, Buchicha parish in Sikuda sub-county and Mawero parish in Buteba sub-county to the municipality. They argued that if the sub-county which has 56 villages is annexed it will ease access to services.
The two are said to have clashed when the deceased confronted the suspect, whose identity has been withheld because he is a minor accusing him of dating his girlfriend. It is alleged that the suspect picked up a knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest during the ensuing brawl.
