Maj. David Matovu, the Kyotera Resident District Commissioner, says that the distribution will start on Tuesday in Kasensero and Nangoma sub-county and continue to other parts of the district.
Dr Edward Muwanga, the Kyotera District Health Officer and Secretary to the task force says they do not have funds to buy fuel to transport the patients to Masaka. The island sub-county lacks a treatment centre.
Dr Ronald Reagan Mutebi, the head of the mass community testing exercise says they have registered a cumulative total of 12 COVID-19 patients. Four of the patients were transferred to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital and another four to Mbarara Hospital while the Tanzanian national who tested positive is still at large.
The Tanzanian national had temporarily been isolated at an undisclosed facility as health workers waited for an ambulance to transfer him together with four others to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
The 13 cases were identified from the 2,421 samples collected from truck drivers on May 8th, 2020. According to the break down, 7 of the new cases are Kenyans, 4 Ugandans and 2 Tanzanian nationals.

Asked if it had anything to do with the implementation of the Health Minister’s ban on travels in and out of Uganda for people who had visited high risk countries or even Ugandans intending to travel there, CAA Spokesperson, Vianney Luggya, said it was simply a technical problem, which has since been resolved.
