Busoga subjects are calling for unity and promotion of cultural values as the institution of Kyabazinga marks 78 years of existence today. The Kyabazinga Day dates back to 1939 when 11 hereditary chiefs from the chiefdoms that make Busoga adopted the title of Isebantu Kyabazinga as the titular head of all the royal chiefs. Ezekiel Tenywa Wako, the chief of Bulamogi, took over as the first Kyabazinga of Busoga.

Eskom Operations Manager Peter Tentena says that the nine flood gates can release up to one million cubic meters of water per second for every hour if let open at once. He however hastens to add that this cannot stop the production of electricity or affect the supply of water in Jinja and others parts.
Peter Tentena, the Eskom Operations manager, says the flood gates are ready and will be tested early next month. Each of the three flood gates at Nalubale dam can spill 215 cubic meters of water per second while those at Kiira dam can spill 1000 cubic meters.
