According to Owoyesigyire, Muwonge met his death in the wee hours of Monday morning. His lifeless body was found by one of his relatives covered in a Polythene bag outside in his compound. Owoyesigyire says that the assailants took off with the deceased’s mobile phones, saying that they are treating the case as an aggravated robbery.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson identifies the deceased as 27-year-old James Eyangu, the former president of Makerere College of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated on Wednesday in Biomedical Laboratory Technology.
Security intercepted the vehicle at the same checkpoint where the bus was intercepted. Guard Murungi, the Napak District Police Commander, says that they also arrested the driver and conductor of the bus, saying they will appear in court today.
Hassan Makumbi, one of the affected residents, says that the management of the UWA wants to grab the entire land. He is demanding a fresh demarcation exercise of the park boundaries to ease the tension in the area.
