According to legislators the camp, where they are now, is congested with 2,680 persons recorded from 81 households. They argue that the camp is posing a serious health risk to both the internal and external population after 126 persons tested positive for COVID-19.
Richard Okello, the Lira City Commercial officer explained that the city council is struggling to clear the bill to pave way for the sub-metering amidst the challenge of local revenue collection. He says individual vendors will bear the cost of installation, saying the vendor may remove the equipment anytime they decide to quit the market.

According to Owoyesigyire, police swung into action after receiving numerous complaints from Lubowa, Zzana, Bunamwaya, Katale, Bukwenda, Seguku and Nalumunye areas.
"They started from where they stopped upon release from the prison," he says.
Last month, the Inspector General of Police IGP Martin Okoth Ochola approved the establishment of the station and construction was supposed to start immediately.
