“I am surprised to hear that I got 110 votes in my polling station. To be honest, in this house, I got only ten votes and the winner there had 101 votes. How come that I was added 100 votes and the winner more than 500 votes? Something is fishy in this election and the officials know what they did at the polling stations”, one of the candidates said.

Okojo was defeated by Fred Opolot in polls held on Friday. According to the results declared by Sam Orioko Ongodia, the Serere District NRM Registrar, Fred Opolot garnered 6,786 votes against 3,788 votes polled by Opit across 44 polling stations in the County.

Mislam Eburu, the Sub County Supervisor of Kyere Sub County says he couldn’t risk allowing voting when voters failed to cooperate with the officials at the polling station. He explains that some people turned violent when officials asked them to wear masks and keep a distance from each other.
