Kasim Kasule, the local council chairperson for Elegu told URN on Sunday evening that more than one hundred pit latrines have been razed to ground due to the flooding, he added that over ten public toilets in the area have also been filled with water.
The victims say that they have resolved to mobilize voters against the ruling NRM candidates in protest if their compensation is not paid before the end of the year.
Rose Ataro, a Primary Teachers Association member from Mutema Primary school says the water problem has persisted since 2011 including last year, when it killed one candidate who slipped and fell in Omer river while returning home from school.
