The neglected tropical disease is spread by infected mosquitoes whose bites deposit a parasite that travels to the lymph nodes. It affects the lymphatic system causing swelling and pain in the legs, arms and genitalia. It also increases the risk of frequent bacterial infections that harden and thicken the skin.
Allan Lokot, a government-sponsored student in his third year, argues that the allowances help them to meet costs beyond food and residence. He explains that students like him save off this money to buy handouts, basic requirements like airtime for online lectures and hostel necessities.
According to Kisaakye, their efforts to restore water supply suffered a setback when they received a faulty motor, which they had to send back to the supplier. “Hopefully today please, the Motor they gave us had issues.
