Wameli, Mugisha’s lawyer says the reappointment of Professor Bazeyo in acting capacity emphasizes their cry to court that internal processes at Makerere are neither fair nor transparent.
A payment scale by the Uganda Prisons service offers skilled prisoners a payment of 1,398 Shillings up from 500 shillings, semi-skilled prisoners are to be given 699 Shillings from 250 Shillings, while non-skilled inmates will get 280 Shillings up from 100 shillings per day. Gratuity for the inmates was also increased from 3,000 to 8,386 Shillings.
According to bid documents, up to 198 million Shillings would be spent on the packages, for which MTN Uganda had been selected as the best bidder. But the plan met stern resistance from the public many of who condemned Members of Parliament for demonstrating selfishness by evading a tax they imposed on Ugandans.
The State Minister of finance in -charge of planning, David Bahati insisted that there was no extra cash printed. He asked the MPs to be patient and wait for the outcome of the investigations.
In November Professor Anthony Mugisha challenged the search process saying he was unfairly and unlawfully denied a chance to compete for the job of Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
