Byabakama told journalists this evening at the nomination centre which has been set up in Kyambogo that the commission has received reports that several presidential aspirants have mobilized supporters to hold processions to accompany them for nomination.
Owoyesigyire says that the suspects were arrested with from car tyres, fuels in jerry cans and drums, bottles and machetes among others. He says that the suspects led police officers to the areas they had kept the exhibits upon interrogation.
Of the 10 candidates that have been cleared for nominations, only they have pinned posters along the Kyambogo Road. They include President Museveni, General Henry Tumukunde, and Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
The party has also defied a requirement for COVID-19 testing of all people intending to accompany the candidates to the nomination centre in Kyambogo. The Electoral Commission set a restriction of only ten members for each of the aspirants accessing the venue, and that each of them will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test result.
