Ssemanda, Mutebi and other boat operators at Kasenyi landing site say the sailors should have first removed the laid fishing nets that had entangled the boat engines before embarking on the journey to Kisaba landing site.
Preliminary reports by fishermen indicate that boat could have broken down when fishing nets got stuck in its engine. Moses Musiitwa, a fisherman at Kasenyi landing site, says that the boat capsized between Lukuba and Misenyi island after being hit by strong winds on the lake.
According to sources at the Works ministry, names of five people to constitute the probe team have been forwarded to General Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport for approval. Katumba has not yet announced announced the team.
Dubbed the “2022 Aviation Run”, the marathon will take place on May 29 at Entebbe Mayor’s Garden. The marathon first took place in 2019 as an annual event to help the needy in and around Entebbe municipality. Participants run 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres.
RwandAir, in its press statement dated April 20 says the its aircraft flight WB464 upon landing at Entebbe Airport was involved in a runway incursion as a result of bad weather. It adds that "all passengers and flight crew deplaned safely with no reported injuries."
According to an eyewitness Margaret Namanda, the incident happened between 5:30pm and 6pm on Monday. "Nakyejwe dived into the swimming pool to join three other swimmers. But after three minutes, the swimmers alerted the guide that Nakyejwe was at the bottom of the pool," says Namanda.
