Daphine Logose, the in charge of the mental ward, explains that the drug stock-out has lasted for several months. She says that they lack Haloperidol, which they use as an antipsychotic medication and treatment of schizophrenia, agitation, acute psychosis, and hallucinations in alcohol withdrawal and Trihexyphenidyl that is key for treating symptoms of the side effects of psychiatric drugs.
Angella Mpiriirwe, a mother from Ruhija sub-county who our reporter found at the facility pending labour, said that upon her arrival last weekend, she realized how the doctor was struggling to perform a cesarean section during night hours without surgical gloves and Misoprostol.
An HIV testing and counselling camp organised by Kabale District Orphans and Vulnerable Children Living with HIV/AIDs –KADOLHA, a Nongovernmental organization offering health and livelihood support to the Batwa in partnership with Muko Health Centre IV, found that at least 50 members of the Batwa community contracted HIV between December 2019 and December 2020.

District Chairman Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema says that the jiggers had plagued the childrens feet, fingers, thighs and buttocks. He adds that all of the children affected by the problem are malnourished and in dire need of medication.
Ambrose Musinguzi, one the residents says that he narrowly survived being assaulted by Kagoro during his visit to the facility. Musinguzi says that Kagoros system of abusing workers and patients is very unfortunate.
The car in contention is a Double Pick-up registration number UG 2168M. It is the main transport means for patients and expectant mothers from their homes to the health center and from the health center to Rugarama and Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
