Led by Okin P.P Ojara, the Chua West County MP in Kitgum district, the MPs told Museveni they were willing to put aside their political differences in order to work collectively for the betterment of Acholi Sub-region.

Speaking to journalists at Najjanankumbi the party headquarters, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, on Tuesday, the party president said the votes allocated to their candidate Sadat Mukiibi didn’t reflect the support that the party has in the area.

The meeting marked a turning point, as the Members of Parliament representing different political affiliations expressed their commitment to collaborating with the government for the betterment of Acholi.

The President paid tribute to the late Kategaya as a steadfast advocate of nationalism and principled politics. He cautioned attendees against identity-based politics, which he described as detrimental to national progress.

The project is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize urban transport and boost economic growth.

Last week, Muhoozi tweeted that he was going to begin auditing media houses.

The 24th edition of the Uganda Economic Update, released on February 24, highlighted a disconnect between the country's development aspirations and its resource allocation, noting that while Uganda sets ambitious goals, its spending priorities often contradict those objectives.

Mercy Walukamba, the chairperson of the Committee and Rahmah Juma Lubowa, a member of the committee were released on Thursday after spending two days in the hands of security.

Kyagulanyi said the only reason why Besigye was brought to court today was because of the pressure people in Uganda and across the world have exerted on the government.

Speaking to Uganda Radio Network at the party’s offices in Makerere Kavule, NUP Secretary-General David Lewis Rubongoya explained that the party follows three key criteria when selecting candidates including vetting, public debate, and a ground survey in the constituency.

On Tuesday, the NUP Election Management Committee headed by Mercy Walukamba ranked Nalukoola the highest among the 10 candidates who have been seeking the party endorsement to stand for the by-election slated for next month.

Nalukoola, who was the Legal Advisor for the Democratic Party (DP) since 2020, resigned from his position following the controversial cooperation agreement between the DP and the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Byabakama clarified that the extension is not a fresh registration but an opportunity for eligible citizens who have not yet registered to do so. It will also allow registered voters to transfer to a new polling station, provided they prove residency or origin, and enable voters to verify and confirm their details at update centers or via the EC website.

“We shall therefore allocate Shs 300m each year to PWD SACCOs in each division of Kampala so that it can boost your socio-economic growth since Shs 1 million is not enough,” Museveni stated.

On average, a polling station in Kampala Metropolitan area has 900 registered voters—nearly double the national average of 522 voters per station.
