The team led by the Aringa North County MP, Godfrey Onzima on Wednesday noted that there were several irregularities in the market that needed reorganization to save a multi-billion facility from ruin.
Paul Mwidu Kaliwani, the Kalaki Resident District Commissioner, says that his office and other security agencies are investigating some of the cases where the DSC solicited money from applicants in the recent Parish Chief recruitment exercise.
But in Soroti district and City, billions of cash are sitting as the accounting officers wait for guidance on how to involve the army in engineering works. Luke Lokuda, the Soroti Chief Administrative Officer says they are stuck with the money because there is no clarification on the scope of work to be undertaken by the army.
Those approved are Herbert Otim, as the Chairperson of the Commission and two other members; Harriet Anyango and John Michael Ejagu. The nomination of Philomena Akello and John Francis Obokor was rejected, according to Richard Ssebandeke, the Kapelebyong Chief Administrative Officer- CAO.

The exercise, according to some concerned individuals in Serere district was done to accommodate applicants who allegedly bribed their way into offices. They claim that the recruitment exercise was highly monetized with influence from the top officials in the district, who reportedly aided the recruitment of their relatives without declaring a conflict of interest.
Asuret Sub County registered 173 cases of COVID-19 between September 22 and October 1, 2021. This is almost a quarter of the cumulative cases recorded in the district comprising 12 sub-counties since March 2020.
Ejwau, the Oriamo sub-county male councillor, says that his sub-county continues to seek health services from Alwa, the mother sub-county. He says that more than 15,000 people are cut off by rising water levels from Lake Kyoga.
The council meeting was pushed to Wednesday, next week after it emerged that Rogers Ejotu, the Clerk to Council in Kaberamaido didn't do his job of preparing documents and reports for councilors to deliberate on during the meeting. Ejotu is reported to have travelled to Soroti for a workshop, according his boss, John Stephen Kasada, the Chief Administrative Officer- CAO of Kaberamaido.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ekou asked VHTs to sign a payment voucher reading 150,000 Shillings but only gave them 97,000 Shillings or less. Most of the affected VHTs are from Kachumbala County in the sub counties of Aligoi, Kachumbala, Kamuge and Kongunga, among others.
Geoffrey Okiswa, the Resident District Commissioner of Bukedea says the officer was arrested because of professional negligence and laziness. He says that the district received 103, 600 hoes from NAADs Secretariat which were distributed across the district. Okiswa says Aligoi was the last sub county to receive hoes when a deficit of hoes realized.
