Kitgum School Remains Closed over Unpaid Teachers' Salaries 3

The school was founded by parents and later constructed with funding from Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) in 1996. But its operations were hindered by the parent’s refusal to contribute the Ugx 3,000 that was required from each household to clear teachers’ salaries. The school had six remunerated teachers.

Compensation Squabbles Still Impede USMID Project in Hoima 3

Although work is ongoing in 13 benefiting municipalities, property owners in Hoima remain up in arms as they demand adequate compensation for the structures which may be damaged during the road works and infrastructure expansion. Hoima municipality has already received Ugx 3.9billion to implement the first phase of the project which however has no component for compensation.

Hoima District Authorities Probe Contentious Land Titles 5

Currently, more than 1000 residents of Rwamutonga in Bugambe Sub County are homeless after being evicted from the land claimed by Hoima businessman Joshua Tibagwa. Another 50,000 residents in Munteme parish, Kiziranfumbi Sub County are facing eviction from a 1000 acres piece of land claimed by Prince Hebert Kimera.
