Between 200-800 pieces of immature fish are needed to obtain 1kilogramme of fish maw and 5 to 10 pieces of Nile Perch needed to obtain 1kilogramme of fish maw from a fully grown Nile Perch. The minister says this does not give opportunity to young fish to mature leading to depletion of fish stocks.

Women activists under the umbrella of Women\'s Democracy Network (WDN) are demanding that districts should be represented by one female and one male legislator as a way of promoting gender equality. WDN Executive Director Perry Aritua said that this proposal would reduce the size of Parliament from the current 375 MPs to 224 directly elected members.
The directive followed complaints from several legislators that the recruitment process was marred by discrimination, while some districts were left out of the process.
