Gerald Kitongo, a prison warder attached to Ndorwa Government prison in Kabale district has died hours after an inmate hit him on the head using a hoe.
The deceased, a 45-year-old resident of Kalango village in Ngora Sub County had sought treatment for a swollen knee which Asege chose to cut before applying herbs. However, the cut led to excessive bleeding which, according to the postmortem report, resulted into Akudos death.

A plan to put in place the Karamoja paramount elder has stalled after years of waiting. The idea of Karamoja paramount leader came to limelight last year during the elders dialogue meeting in Kotido district ahead of the Karamoja cultural day 2016.
The controversy stems from a donation of more than 460 acres of land to Soroti University by Teso College Aloet. Residents in the adjacent village however accused the University of annexing an additional 110 acres to the chunk that was originally donated.
Makerere University may again lose 2.6 billion Shillings in uncollected tuition from students who are soon leaving the university. A report by the University revenue collections unit - MURSU indicates that Makerere has up to December this year to retrieve money from student finalists who during their time of study were under billed.
Buhweju District Police Commander Ben Nuwamanya says that the three had encroached on a bigger part of the wetland and turned it into a grazing and farming area. The suspects are now held at Buhweju Police Station.
