According to the Lamwo Resident District Commissioner, James Nabinson Kidega, South Sudanese authorities complained during their an inter border meeting in Torit State headquarters about Ugandans being recruited into SPLA IO ranks.
According to Oweisigire, the first fire incident happened on Thursday evening when the annex housing a saloon and gym burnt to ashes. He says the second incident was recorded on Friday morning when fire started in the main house in the sitting room but was put off.
In an internal memo, Nkumba University administration, says the staff were laid off as part of the efforts by management to upgrade and improve service delivery. “We strive to restructure the university setting so as to improve the quality of services we offer to our people across the country,” reads part of the memo. Some of the affected employees have reportedly started mobilizing students to oppose their sacking.
