The army is recalling about 2,700 veterans to back-up the soldiers deployed on an African Union Peacekeeping Mission in Somalia. The mobilized veterans will form Uganda Battle Group 31 and 32 to augment UPDF operations under the mission.
At the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police –AIGP, Kasiima and six of his colleagues have had no contracts over the last one year and have been working on a promise letter issued by Internal Affairs Minister Jeje Odongo.
The personnel, drawn from parts of Teso, Bukedi, Bugisu and Karamoja will all be deployed in Karamoja to beef up security with a primary mission of reducing cattle theft. This is according to the Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbadi, who presided over the pass out.
Some of the new CID commanders moved to Kampala divisions include ASP Bernard Isolet moved to Nansana, ASP Emmanuel Okot Loliba transferred to CPS and ASP Cleophas Naturinda moved to Kira Division. Most of the appointed CID bosses recently completed refresher courses at Bwebajja Staff and Senior Command College.
