Bugala island alone, the largest and main of the 84 islands that make up the District is hit by lightning more than 5 times a year destroying equipment used in the generation of power, water and ferry transport.
Omoro district, formerly part of Gulu district, with 451 students sitting UCE last year, trailed everyone else with just 5 students in first grade – one of them being female. The district became operational in 2016.
The Acting Municipal Engineer Brian Kabunga told URN that the municipality will require up to 200 billion Shillings to upgrade the roads in line with its new development plan. The money will be pooled from Uganda Road Fund, the Ministry of Works and Transport and development partners.
