The police officers had stormed Bunekesa village in Manafwa district to disperse thousands of people who had thronged the village to engage in imbalu initiation ceremonies. Imbalu is a ritual, practised among the Bagisu communities in Elgon region to signify the cultural transition from boyhood to manhood.
The two guards identified as Alex Abok and Anthony Ayor, attached to Tight Security Company Limited, were arrested from a hotel in Kaabong District where they were hiding. Police also recovered 50 million Shillings that was in their possession at the time of the arrest.
According to Noah Bigabwomwe, the deceased’s relative, Nabimanya went missing from his home on Tuesday. Area residents, led by the village chairman Cypriano Nshekanabo mounted a search which led to the discovery of his body on Friday, in a house belonging to his uncle Victor Kashaija.
