Ssekaana said that since the election process has already started and is still ongoing, issuing an interim injunction may bring political confusion. The Judge later promised to hear the main case soon for which he fixed for September 18 2020.
On Tuesday, the family members stormed the office of the Chief Administrative Officer, David Lubuuka to demand an explanation why the district has continued developing their land in disregard of the court injunction. Kakako took her mattress and pitched camp at the reception area, which paralyzed work for over three hours.
Prosecution led by James Khauka told court that in September 2019 while at Nansana Municipality in Wakiso district, the accused persons irregularly authorized the payment of Shillings 15 million to Vince Tours Uganda Limited for providing transport services in disregard of the proper procedures.
According to the breakdown of the invoices, government secured air tickets worth USD 18,186 (about Shillings 67.3 million) on credit in the 2014 to 2015 financial year. It also secured tickets worth 20,190 dollars (Shillings 74.7 million) in the 2015/ 2016 financial year and USD 17, 647 (Shillings 65.3 million) in the next financial year.
Ssekaana thus dismissed the application emphasising that the courts cannot grant an injunction which will have the effect of suspending the operation of legislation or the functions of the public body.
