Emmanuel Dombo who was responding to Robert Kyagulanyi's decision to withdraw his Supreme Court petition says all that matters to the NRM is the Electoral Commission’s declaration. He says the party is not concerned about securing legitimacy in the court.
A section of Members of Parliament have expressed mixed reactions over former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi's move to withdraw his petition after claiming that he would not get justice.
Lawyers have said that some grounds raised by former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi including failure to amend his petition as strong enough to withdraw the case.
Kyagulanyi had been given up to February 14 to file evidence supporting his application however, by the end of that day he had filed only 53 affidavits.
Dr Besigye was the chief guest during thanksgiving prayers organised by Denis Onekalit Amere, the Kitgum Municipality Member of Parliament-elect over the weekend. Amere defeated State Minister for Environment Beatrice Atim Anywar in the January 14, parliamentary polls.
The UHRC condemned the actions of the officers who were seen beating up journalists and other people when NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu went to deliver his petition to the UN agency, over alleged violations of human rights. The commission expresses exceptional concern over the recent media reports showing a blatant violation of the rights of journalists and other people by some errant security officers", says a statement.
