The drop in animal prices in the region is due to a shortage of grass and water and also rampant cattle raiding by the armed Karimojong warriors who are now forcing many people to sell their animals instead of keeping them in Kraals where they are raided by rustlers.
Lard or the pig fat is crucial during saponification process where chemicals like sodium or potassium salts mix with fatty acids to form soap. Vegetable oils and animal fats are the traditional materials that are saponified.
John Njoki Rugeimukamu, the Board Secretary of Greater Bushenyi Teachers SACCO, said the current laws governing savings and cooperative organizations are creating conflict amongst the regulators noting that the multiple registrations are weakening the principals of SACCOs.
Peter Lokeris, the State Minister for Minerals and MP for Chekwii County in Nakapiripirit district who led the ceremony said they are resorting to using their traditional methods to hunt for the warriors who have failed to embrace peace.
According to the EC, the registration of new voters will end Tuesday, and the display of the voters’ register starts on July 20-29. Nomination of candidates will be conducted between 8th and 9th August and then campaigns will start on August 10 to 16.
