UPDF Boasts of Securing Somalia Air Space 1

UPDF went to Somalia in 2007 under the Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) which was being funded by the UN’s Security Council. However, two years ago, UN Security Council member countries that include the US, China, France, Germany, and the UK said UPDF and AMISOM forces had outlived their purpose in Somalia. Nevertheless, AMISOM was changed to ATMIS to stay for more years in the guise of training Somali forces to take charge of their country’s security.
