Following the entry into force of the agreement, the next step is the establishment of the Nile River Basin Commission, which will oversee the management of the Nile’s resources. It will build on the foundation laid by the Nile Basin Initiative, transitioning the region’s cooperative efforts into a more formal and permanent structure.
The SAR centres on Lake Victoria will be established at landing sites of Kaazi, Misonzi, Lwanika, Kiyindi, Masese, and Namba Emu at Buvuuma. Other centres will be established on Lake Kyoga (Zengebe landing site), and on Lake Albert - Panyimur and Kaiso landing sites in Packwach and Kikuube districts respectively.
