The Bill wants, among other provisions, to reform and provide for the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) to regulate, promote and oversee the coffee sub-sector; and to regulate all on-farm and off-farm activities in the coffee value chain, to provide for a coffee auction system and to create and enhance the penalties.
Lazarus Oboo, the Angagura Sub-County Chairperson says residents continue to defy the ban to consume carcasses from the dead animals in hiding for fear of being arrested by Police. He says the practice pose grave health risks to those consuming meat from the affected animals.
In September last year, the company supplied over 300 bags of cassava cuttings from Masindi district to farmers in Palam Sub County. The inputs have since remained wasted at the sub-county headquarters.
