Byamukama was making reference to the ongoing discussion on the National Coffee bill 2018 which is currently being scrutinized by Parliament's Agriculture committee. The bill proposes the registration of farmers, capturing details of the size of land, the number of coffee trees and particulars of the farmers, coffee buyers and sellers among others.
Noah Bulamba, the Chairperson of Tumbaali Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Masuliita Sub County says that the group has an investment portfolio of 38 Million Shillings generated from the sale of shares to members and low-interest loans. He adds that members borrow credit for personal investments such as the construction of family homes and businesses, adding that they are now focused on saving money for the future.
