According to Nakasongola District Mpox situational report 26th November,2024 released by District Health Officer , the district has registered 66 cases of which 45 people have recovered.
Specifically, Uganda loses about 1% of its biodiversity annually. Between 2000 and 2015 it lost approximately 1.8 million hectares of forest, representing 4 percent annual loss rate, and this is primarily driven by agricultural expansion into natural and semi-natural lands (such as forests and wetlands), overexploitation of natural resources, pollution, and unsustainable agricultural intensification practices.
The unit at the health facility was designed to accommodate only 16 babies born preterm or with complications. However, records from the hospital show that an average of 140 babies are admitted to the facility monthly, and about 60 of these are preterm.
Owachgiu notes that the family agreed with Gulu District Local Government to give out their two plots of land for the construction of the incineration facility at 35 million shillings in 2022. He however says the district only made a down payment of 15 million and has failed to clear the balance since last year despite promises to finish it by July this year.
Joyce Baatiyo, the Secretary for Gender and Health in Moyo district, pointed out that many young people have infections such as sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, but lack a clear path for reporting and seeking help.
Charles Odoi, the TASO Centre Programs Manager, stated that between October 2023 and October 2024, the center retained only 5,969 active clients in care, marking a notable reduction. He attributed the issue to clients missing refills, particularly those scheduled for viral load checks, which has adversely affected retention rates.
Speaking at the launch of this service, Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said while Uganda long started conducting laparoscopic surgeries in adults, this service had not yet been extended to children.
