Dr Godfrey Bwire, who heads the Diarrheal Diseases Division at the Ministry, attributed the suspension to the disruptions caused by the ongoing lockdown that was instituted to curb the further spread of Coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19.
Dr Angella Namala, the hospital Deputy Director notes that their causality ward has had a huge reduction in road traffic accident victims and has now been replaced with those nursing gunshot and stab injuries. She said the victims have very deep injuries and are usually dropped at the hospital by the police.
The 10 include nine truck drivers and one contact of a confirmed truck driver. This brings the number of confirmed cases for truck drivers to 145. The new cases were part of 1,497 samples that were tested on Wednesday.
