Martin Ssejjemba, the Mpigi district LC V Chairperson, says health is a critical issue but the major challenge is the lack of a district hospital which leads to the low supply of drugs in their area.
In Mpigi, the exercise was scheduled to take place at Mpigi Health Center IV, Muduuma Health Center III, Nkozi hospital and Butooro Health Center where all health workers are expected to report to be vaccinated. Dr. Nannozi expects health workers in the district to be exemplary to the community by turning up in big numbers to participate in the exercise.
“Mpigi district COVID- 19 cases among essential public servants are on the increase. 36 were identified in the mass screening of staff at the district,” the memo reads in part.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Hellen Nsereko Jacan Gwokto says that the restriction will help to curb the spread of the virus amidst soaring community transmission cases.
Several patients, particularly expectant mothers told trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde that they have been forced to abandon the facility and instead endured a long journey to Gombe Hospital in the neighbouring Butambala district to avoid harassment and extortion.

The food will be distributed to persons whose livelihood was affected by measures put in place by the government to control the spread of Coronavirus Disease. Some of it will go the needy members of the community.
The call comes barely hours after the arrest of Rev Fr Deogratius Kiibi Kateregga from St. Joseph parish in Mpigi town for allegedly defying the guidelines. Fr Kiibi was arrested by Police Officers, working with District Internal Security Officer and UPDF soldiers, early today.

In his June 12th letter addressed to Mpigi Chief Administrative Officer, Ssekweyama claims that part of the hospital land measuring 6 acres located on block 94 Mawokota was part of the Mailo Hold in the names of Matayo Mpanga Kidimbo, one of the clan elders.
