The government provides 1,800 Shillings for each student at National Teachers College to cover the basic necessities of students and general maintenance costs each day. But NTC Kabale Principal Benjamin Turyahikayo says the allocation is meaningless given the countrys inflation rate.
The staff of the legal directorate described the legal opinion as laughable, embarrassing and stupid, according to contents of a WhatsApp thread detailing a discussion held among legal brains at the University between February 9 and 13, 2019. It is in this conversation that a plan to shut the law school was mooted.
The Examinations body became suspicious after discovering a live correlation of answers for all the candidates in the two centres, implying that the learners could have had advanced knowledge of the questions.
The students are contesting the absence of teachers, dilapidated school structures and food that they describe as bitter stuff. They are now demanding that the current headteacher of the school, Fr John Bosco Kutegena be transferred for running down the school.
Charles Openy, the Olinga Village chairperson in Labala parish says the pupils are engaged in hunting edible rats in the foot Lili, Tugu, Atyeno, Kilak and Cam Got hills. He says the area consists of vast jungles rich in edible rats, antelopes, warthogs and different birds species such as guinea fowl.
Its alleged that the head teachers, last year solicited money from private schools and allowed them to register for Primary leaving Examinations- PLE at their Centres without submitting the money to UNEB.
