The Wakiso district education officer Fredrick Kiyingi says that currently the district has no funds to handle the matter with the due urgency it deserves thus calling people and education related donor agencies to help the school reconstruct the damaged building.
At Kisege Nursery and Primary School in Karugutu Sub County, they have classes up to P.5, but from the nursery section up to P.2, pupils study from a structure that is unroofed, lacks windows and doors and pupils sit on stones due to lack of desks.
The municipal secretary for health and education Flavia Musubika says that the distance covered by students is discouraging a number of them from studies. She notes that walking does not only impact on students’ lives physically but also psychologically.
