The adoption of the new remote learning systems has been a challenge in an environment where teachers, parents and caregivers were not positioned to provide education, through radio programmes, home-schooling, online learning and other approaches as outlined by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
In recent years, Makerere has faced a series of human resource-related challenges and clashes a most of which have failed to be addressed by internal mechanisms ending up in courts of law costing the university huge sums of money in endless litigation.
The university top management notes that they have made a review of their finances and established that don’t have sufficient funds. They argue that most of the students had not completed payment of tuition fees, which is the main source of income for the University.
