Prof. Mathew Odada, a retired teacher educator, says that a degree is not the ultimate solution to achieving quality education in Uganda. He argues that although a degree is much desired as a sign of excellence, it doesn’t necessarily translate into quality.
Benson Kule Babitazare, the Chairperson of the National Selection and placement Committee, says that due to the changes in teacher education, students who had placed their first choice in PTCs have been moved to the list of non-selected learners.
The institute, established in 2009, is Uganda's centre for training, research and consultancy in the field of petroleum exploration, recovery, refinement and responsible utilization of Oil and Gas Resources. It is one of the developments towards building skills for Ugandans to benefit from the Oil and Gas sector.
