UNEB dragged the duo to court for allegedly aiding and abetting examination malpractices during last year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education-UACE examinations in 2018 when they leaked paper for candidates of Buvuma College School, which prompted UNEB to withhold their results.
The municipal secretary for health and education Flavia Musubika says that the distance covered by students is discouraging a number of them from studies. She notes that walking does not only impact on students’ lives physically but also psychologically.
John Okumu, the Head teacher of Naminya R/C primary attributes the high absenteeism to the poor attitude of parents towards education. He says many of them believe education has nothing to do with a person’s development in today’s Uganda.
Canon John Ssebudde, the Mukono Diocesan Secretary, says the synod and the diocesan chancellor are y handling the matter and are yet to give their final verdict that shall be respected. He says despite receiving information about the donation, they didn’t authorize the construction of classroom block.
Bernard Njebe, a parent in the area blames the problem on the absence of a government school in the area and its neighborhood, which forces them to go with their children to the landing site where they meet fishermen.
