The first cohort obtained the level one certificate of Uganda Vocational Qualifications under the Directorate of Industrial Training, Ministry of Education and Sports after attending the five-month training.

The fire started from a canteen at the hall and was noticed by female students who had come from a nightclub who say it started at 4 a.m. At least five female students were admitted at Makerere University Hospital following the Saturday morning fire.
