Muhwezi who is also head of Secretariat Technical Vocational Education and Training Policy Working Group revealed that in the first phase the renovation works will be executed by Vambeco Enterprises Uganda at 9.4 billion shillings.
According to the minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni, they are worried that many students enroll at different education levels of education but a few are able to complete the cycle. According to 2009 Ministry of Education and Sports figures, 976,078 kids enrolled for primary one and the same figure was expected to sit for PLE in 2015. However, by the time they sat for their PLE in 2015, this number had reduced to 601777 pupils.
The ministry faults the schools for using the ‘unreliable tests’, some of which do not conform to the prescribed curriculum to assess learners. According to a circular issued on March 13, 2019, by the Commissioner for Private Schools Ismael Mulindwa, the practice is detrimental to the children’s future.
