Charles Alex Bogere, the Ferry Master at Masindi Port says one of the engines became fault while in motion crossing the river with passengers promoting them to immediately suspending operation. Whereas a team of UNRA engineers are already working on the faulty engine, Bogere told URN they are not yet aware about when the ferry may resume operation.

Mark Ssali, the UNRA Communication Officer, says they have suspended the operations for six days to allow their engineers to conduct fresh repairs and maintenance. He says the ferry is expected to resume operations on August 25th, 2019. UNRA has described the breakdown as an emergency mechanical fault that occurred on the Ferry ramp system on Tuesday evening.
