In march 2018, President Yoweri Museveni while meeting with the Crime Preventers in Lugogo Kampala as their fate was lying in balance following the replacement of former IGP, Kale Kayihura, said that they were to be part of the UPDF as a reserve force.
This is after the Eng. Dr. Steven Kagoda-led special council committee on Legal, Rules and Privileges resolved on Thursday that the matter is subjudice due to a pending court case about the same.
