Mabirizi accuses Justice Ssekaana of misconduct and incompetence. This stems from the manner in which he handled a case challenging the appointment of Justice Simon Byabakama as the chairman of the Electoral Commission without resigning as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
Wameli noted that the said offenses contravene provisions under Article 29 of the Constitution mostly the one that talks about freedom to assemble and demonstrate peacefully. Wameli thus asked Buganda Road Court to halt the proceedings and refer the file of his clients to the Constitutional Court for interpretation on whether the offenses against them violate their constitutional rights or not.
According to the statement, six of the sessions will be held at the Land Division in Kampala targeting 120 cases. Five other sessions will be held at Mukono, Mbale, Masaka, Mpigi, Kabale and Jinja High Courts.
