The Masaka Grade One Magistrate Author Zirabamuzale was forced to adjourn the case to February next year after the state prosecutor Jacob Nahurira told the court that the witnesses had not appeared in court.
Court heard that the accused was caught red-handed having sexual intercourse with the minor on her mother’s bed by the victim’s elder brother. The accused who is the victim’s cousin, is said to be HIV Positive.
Court heard that the accused picked up a quarrel with the deceased on October 20th at around 10pm and that he assaulted the deceased to coma. The deceased was then rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for treatment where he died on October 22nd, just two days after his admittance.
According to Jameson Karemani, the Judiciary Public Relations officer the judicial offices like judges, Registrars, Chief Magistrates and lawyers both private and government are being taken through issues that arose in the previous election petitions and how they can overcome them.
Prosecution led by the Abim Resident State Attorney, Patrick Angulipa had prayed for a deterrent sentence arguing that there was general laxity by the public to adhere to the SOPs especially wearing of masks, social distancing and washing hands hence exposing lives to the danger of COVID-19 infection.
It is alleged that Kembabazi verbally gave directives after she had personally stormed the offices and threatened to take action against the Human Resource Officers if they failed to abide by the instructions she claimed to have gotten from the fountain of honor.
The accused are Captain Tonny Olinga, Private Morris Oloya Taban and Private Lovis Okello, all attached to East Madi Wildlife Reserve. They are charged with two counts of murder and malicious damage to property contrary to Section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act.
Court heard that on May 14th, 2019 at Kitooro Taxi Park in Entebbe municipality in Wakiso district, Wanda caused the unlawful death of Mulindwa, a law enforcement officer attached to Entebbe Taxi Operators Association who was deployed at Kitooro Taxi Park.
