Makerere University through it's Acting Secretary Yusuf Kiranda who also has a similar defense to that of University Acting Dean of students Winifred Kabumbuli, now want the High Court to dismiss Nalukwago's application with costs saying it lacks merit.
The police officers, identified as Detective AIP Francis Katega and Corporal Viola Nambi, are currently attached to Kyengera and Kabalagala police stations respectively.
The court heard that Ssempiira solicited two million Shillings as gratification from Emmanuel Kiwumulo Mwanja, a pensioner for purposes of expeditious processing of his gratuity. He however accepted a bribe of one million Shillings from Kiwumulo on April 22, 2021, which eventually led to his arrest by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.
